Rokeby Centre

It has been a busy few months for the Rokeby Community Centre since the PEF Day of Community Engagement 10th October 2008, when over 80 volunteers from the private equity industry assembled in Newham, to add the finishing touches to the new Centre for the local community in Newham. See below for the latest update on the centre and its’ activities.

Oct Half-term: Rokeby Centre held a successful taster session of various sports in the multi-use games area in conjunction with our S-Team for approximately 25 local children.

Nov 1st: Hosted a Community Open Day attended by 100 local residents, who came in to see their new centre and take part in a variety of activities including dancing with MOJO (a local children’s entertainer), doing arts and crafts inside the centre and getting involved in various sporting activities in the multi-use games area.

Fridays, 4-6pm: Every Friday, they run a free martial arts class for local young people ages 11-19 years in partnership with a local vendor to teach young people non-violent self-defense techniques.
