Young People’s Minister

Children and Young People’s Minister Beverley Hughes MP will speak at PEF’s conference at UBS on 29 January. The event will bring together senior leaders from business, the third sector and local government to design new and powerful ways of supporting NEET young people.

PEF is working in partnership with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) as a result of a challenge issued by Gordon Brown 18 months ago, asking city leaders to apply their brains to social problems - our particular challenge is the issue of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).

The conference will provide opportunities to hear the latest from central government on these issues, with inputs from the DCSF NEET policy team, and to hear from practitioners across all three sectors that are already making a positive impact in these areas. Most importantly, there will be significant opportunity to work with colleagues to consider how existing good work can be better supported and what new, innovative approaches to these issues might look like.

In hosting this event we hope to create new partnerships across business, the third sector and local government. These partnerships will focus on action - action that we hope will improve the life chances of young people.
