PEF UK Charity Selection 2008 kicks off
PEF UK Charity Selection 2008 kicks off
PEF has been receiving help from across the private equity community to whittle down over 40 applications from UK charities interested in receiving financial and pro bono support to help more young people reach their full potential.
This year we have strengthened the process by creating a Screening Panel to longlist charities and give us a chance to explore which of them best fit PEF’s criteria.
Chaired by Tom Walker of CCMP Capital Partners, the panel also comprised Kate Albert of APAX Partners and Eric Machiels of Terra Firma. Between them they created a longlist of 9 charities which were due diligence by PEF staff and New Philanthropy Capital prior to a meeting of the Board Charity Committee.
“I found it a fascinating insight into the UK charity sector, and the issues that PEF is trying to address. There was a very strong field of applications and I was grateful for the expertise of the PEF staff team in providing advice and support in guiding us through the day. I’m really looking forward to taking on the role of Deal Captain and following the progress of the charities through the due diligence process.”
We now have a shortlist of 5 charities that will be intensively due diligenced over the summer, prior to our UK investment day on 16 October. We will be announcing the new additions to our charity portfolio later in the year. Watch this space!
