22.07.10: PEF seeks ambitious youth charities

The Private Equity Foundation (PEF) has opened its latest funding round and is looking for highly effective charities working to empower young people to reach their full potential. They need to be medium sized organisations, with a turnover of between £1 million and £10 million, which have the will and the potential to grow.

In particular, PEF is seeking charities with proven interventions in the following areas:

  • young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) up to the age of 24
  • the transition from school to work
  • facilitating employers’ programmes
  • youth entrepreneurship
  • early/single parenthood
  • mentoring
  • educational disengagement

As a venture philanthropy fund, PEF provides charities with a combination of grant funding and pro bono business expertise to enable them to achieve a step change in their impact. It also blends third sector ‘know how’ and this year is looking for experienced youth sector advisers interested in volunteering to help screen charity applications and undertake research.

Shaks Ghosh, Chief Executive of the Private Equity Foundation, said: “PEF’s most effective partnerships are with charities which seize the opportunity to work with us towards a common goal, fully utilizing the support, relationships and expertise that PEF can bring to the table to ensure that more young people benefit from their interventions.

“Our mission is all about unlocking full potential. If venture philanthropy is the key your youth charity is looking for to help it become bigger and better, or if you’re interested in providing your sector expertise to support us in making the right choices, we look forward to hearing from you.”
